Resident Moses Kollimee has condemned the Bong County Council and the administration of Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris over the delayed delivery of furniture worth US$30,000 to the Superintendent Compound, months after its refurbishment and dedication in February 2025.
“This is unacceptable,” Kollimee said. “The County Council approved US$30,000 in November 2024 to furnish the compound, yet here we are, months later, only now seeing the furniture delivered.
He continued, “This is not just about furniture. It’s about public funds being handled carelessly.
This compound was dedicated to serve the people, but for months, it remained only partially equipped.
A Staff and visitors were left to contend with a facility that was supposed to be complete.
How can the leadership justify this?”
Kollimee criticized both the Superintendent’s office and the County Council for what he described as a “pattern of inefficiency.”
“Month after month passed, and we heard nothing. No explanations, no updates, nothing,” he said.
“Even when the Bong Information Desk announced the furniture had arrived, there was no accountability, no reason given for the delay. How can citizens trust leaders who handle public money this way?”
He added, “US$30,000 is a significant amount, yet it was treated as if it were trivial. If this is how projects of this size are managed, we fear what happens with bigger public contracts.
The people deserve transparency. The people deserve leaders who can deliver on promises without months of unnecessary delay.”
Kollimee concluded, “We are calling on the County Council and Superintendent Norris to explain fully why this furniture took so long to arrive, and to take concrete steps to ensure that public funds are properly managed in the future.
We will not accept inefficiency and negligence as normal. Bong County deserves better leadership.”
