President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has cautioned national security forces to uphold discipline, restraint, and professionalism in their respective operations.
Boakai’s warning was contained in a remark he made as part of a broader review of government performance, and priorities at a retreat held in Tubmanburg, Bomi County on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
He commended various ministries and agencies for their “meaningful efforts” in advancing government’s development agenda under the ARREST framework.
Pres. Boakai however, expressed fear over reports of authority being misused among certain services.
Particularly with focus on authorities at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), the President warned agents that the badges they bear, are not a hunting license, but to fight illegal substances and make the country-drug free.
Boakai added: “Government dedication to tackle the nation drug crisis needs holistic approach, not limited to the Agency.”
He urged security personnel not to misuse their authority to intimidate or harass peaceful residents.
“Citizens and our foreign residents will see genuine progress, because our works will speak for themselves.
Result-oriented projects will define the good of our government.”
To the LDEAA, the President said, the fight against drugs does not require abuses of power.
His remarks reflected growing concerns about excessive force, and misconduct within the security apparatus.
By that, Boakai urge security leaders to rectify these issues immediately, or else face the consequences.
In addition, Pres. Boakai unveiled several upcoming development initiatives to enhance infrastructure, road connectivity and education.
Meanwhile, Pres. Boakai has announced partners’ preparedness to assess construction of a National Sports Academy in Bong County.
The Academy is designed to support young athletes, and bolster sports sector.
