In a rather confused situation, the government is said to have a confiscation strategy aimed at taking over the City of Hope Foundation.
The Foundation is in the name of former President George Weah’s Wife, Clar Marie Weah.
More disappointingly, the report said, if confiscated, Pres. Boakai would turn it over to his wife, Katumu Yatta Boakai, to be renamed: “The Katumu Y. Boakai Foundation.”
Henceforth, Criminal Court ‘A’ has compelled Building Material Center (BMC) on Capitol Byepass, to release records in Clara Hope Foundation construction investigation
The Court has meanwhile, ordered the management of BMC to turn over key financial and contractual documents tied to the construction of the Clar Hope Foundation.
The Court’s order came as authorities intensify scrutiny of the high-profile project.
The directive was issued through a Writ of Subpoena Duces Tecum signed by Court Clerk, Gabriel J. Smith.
It all followed a formal request from the Assets and Property Retrieval Taskforce, led by Counselor Edwin K. Martin. The Taskforce argues that BMC holds essential records needed to advance its ongoing probe into the foundation’s financing and development.
Under the court’s mandate, BMC General Manager, CEO, shareholders, and other responsible officials, must appear before Resident Circuit Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie, on today, Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 10 a.m.
Records Sought in the Investigation
The subpoena compels BMC to provide the construction contract for the Clar Hope Foundation; all payment vouchers and checks issued during the project; official receipts; the full Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and any additional documents related to payments and project development.
Investigators believe the records will help clarify financial flows, identify potential discrepancies, and support the wider asset recovery exercise currently underway.
Court Issues Compliance Warning
The Sheriff of Montserrado County, has meanwhile, been instructed to serve the order and ensure a return is filed with the Court.
The writ also cautions that BMC will face legal consequences should it fail to comply with the subpoena as ordered.
The move highlights the government increasing focus on transparency and accountability, as the asset retrieval campaign continues to expand across several high-value projects and institutions.
