Boakai Reaffirms Commitment

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has restated his administration’s commitment to reshaping the country’s image on the international stage.

The President also emphasized the critical role of robust government communication institutions in achieving this goal.

He spoke during a courtesy visit to the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) headquarters in Paynesville on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Pres. Boakai underscored the importance of empowering the media as a means of bringing government closer to the people.

He praised the LBS management and staff for their ‘unwavering dedication and service to the nation.’

The President meanwhile, reaffirmed his government’s intention to transform LBS into a fully functional public broadcaster.

“This transition will provide citizens with a clearer understanding of government operations and enhance transparency, enabling the public to assess both the achievements and shortcomings of state institutions,” the President said.

He also highlighted the broader vision for media reform by pledging continued support for the effective and efficient operation of the national broadcaster.

Boakai also extended appreciation to the Government of China for its longstanding partnership with the country.

He acknowledged China’s contributions to the country’s development, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and human capacity building.

Pres. Boakai’s visit to LBS marks a renewed effort by his administration to invest in national media as a tool for accountability, development, and national unity.
