President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. has re-assured the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) of his government’s commitment to maintaining peace and fostering reconciliation under his administration. The Liberian leader made the commitment in Monrovia on Wednesday, August 27, 2024, at a meeting with the head of ECOWAS Commission, Omar Alieu Touray and delegation at the Executive Mansion, according to Presidential Press Secretary, Kula Fofana. Speaking to Executive Mansion reporters following the meeting, Madam Fofana said during the meeting, the President assured the ECOWAS delegation that the Government of Liberia is committed to ensuring that the country remains peaceful for everyone irrespective of political affiliation, tribe, or religion. According to her, the Liberian leader emphasized that all Liberians will be a part of the building process of our country. She told journalists that the Boakai’s administration is working tirelessly in two years to ensure that it achieves on what it has started doing relative to the issues of accountability, transparency, rule of Law and reconciliation in line with the ARREST agenda. Madam Fofana noted that everything the President is doing, is to see the betterment of the Country Liberia. When asked by the Liberia News Agency on the issue of reconciliation, she emphasized that the president has initiated the process of genuine reconciliation across the country. The Presidential Press Secretary further disclosed that the President had a meeting with the Legislature, Judiciary, young people, disabled community, women groups, chiefs, elders, and the religious community, citing that he is intending to do more engagements across the length and breadth of Liberia. She further explained that the President told the ECOWAS delegation that the government has no intention to create problem with anyone, neither any political party in Liberia.
