Boakai Off To Ghana With Huge Delegation

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai with several members of his government on Monday, April 21, 2025, departed the country for Accra, Ghana.

Boakai and delegation are to participate in the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), a release said.

The President’s participation in the summit highlights Liberia’s steadfast commitment to regional unity, peace, democratic governance and economic development.

According to the release, the ECOWAS Golden Jubilee provides an opportunity for leaders across West Africa to reflect on five decades of regional cooperation and to strengthen collective efforts in addressing emerging challenges.

The President is accompanied by an official delegation that includes Sarah Beysolow-Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mamaka Bility, Minister of State Without Portfolio, Attorney Samuel Kofi Woods, National Security Advisor, Morley Kamara, Economic Adviser to the President and Anthony Myers, Deputy Finance Minister for Fiscal Affairs.

The President is also traveling with members of his Protocol, Security and Communications teams.

While President Boakai is away, Sylvester M. Grigsby, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, will chair the cabinet in consultation with Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung and the President

via telephone, ensuring the continuous and effective functioning of the Executive Branch.

During the summit, Pres. Boakai is expected to engage in high-level discussions with fellow heads of state and government on issues including regional stability, democratic governance and deeper economic integration.

He is expected to also hold bilateral meetings aimed at advancing Liberia’s strategic interests within the West African sub-region.

Pres. Boakai is scheduled to return to Liberia on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, the release noted.
