The governing Unity Party Legislative Caucus, has commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for “deliberate and progressive steps to advance gender equality through the appointments of qualified women to key positions.”

In a press statement released Tuesday, February 3, the Caucus Chairman, Representative Robert Flomo Womba of Bong County District #4, lauded the President for fulfilling his commitments made before the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

At UNGA, Boakai pledged to promote gender equality, and expand women’s participation in public leadership and governance.

Rep. Womba said, Pres. Boakai’s recent actions demonstrate a strong alignment between policy pronouncements and practical governance, particularly in creating inclusive opportunities for women at the highest levels of national decision-making.

He highlighted the recent nomination of Attorney Cornelia Kruah as Minister of Youth and Sports.

Womba also described Madam Kruah-Tokpah’s nomination as a welcome development.

He noted that it reflects the President’s confidence in women’s leadership, and his determination to empower capable Liberians in strategic sectors critical to national development.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports plays a vital role in shaping the future of Liberia, and Madam Kruah appointment is expected to bring renewed vision, professionalism, and focus to youth empowerment and sports development.”

Womba further called on all well-meaning Liberians to embrace and support Madam Kruah as she assumes the responsibilities of her new role.

He stressed that collective support is essential for the success of the administration’s gender-inclusivity agenda.

Womba urged his colleagues at the senate to expeditiously consider and confirm Madam Kruah nomination. He cited the need for continuity, efficient governance, and the timely realization of Boakai’s inclusive governance goals.

He also reaffirmed UP commitment to support policies and actions that promote equity, competence, and national unity.
