Delivering the special remarks at the official opening of court and dedication of the 14th Judicial Circuit Court Complex, Cestos City, RiverCess County, on August 12, 2024, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai promised to support the Judiciary to make Liberia a proud nation. President Boakai said he is not at anytime offended by the Judiciary Branch of Government, adding that went he was Vice President, he used to always say, ‘in Liberia, people pretend to be perfect and wanting others to do the right thing while ourselves are not doing the right thing.’ President Boakai stated that one Liberian represents the dignity of all Liberians. The President said he is grateful for the invitation extended to him for the dedication of the 14th Judicial Circuit Court Complex in Cestos City, RiverCess County. President Boakai revealed that the Executive Branch is fully on board with the Judiciary Branch in the quest of responsibility, integrity and adherence to the rule of law in the country. He assured the Chief Justice that the Executive Branch of Government fully shares her concern to strengthen the Judiciary. The President also promised that citizens of Liberia will receive structures of courts in each county, as he cut the rope for court opening. For her part, Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene G Yuoh, expressed appreciation and gratitude over the dedication, saying it’s with great honor and profound gratitude “I stand before you today for the formal opening of this Judicial Complex which also marks the formal opening of the circuit courts within the fifteen counties of the country for the August term 2024.” Chief Justice Yuoh said with the completion of the physical structure, the Judicial celebrates the fact that it is on the road of moving closure to its goal of building and completing Judicial Complex in all the counties as well as magisterial courts. She indicated that it has been more than a decade since any magistrate court has been either renovated or built, adding that instead, the Legislature and Executive that have the full responsibilities of establishing magisterial courts continue to establish magisterial courts within their respective counties without putting funds in the budget for the running of the courts. “ Mr. President, your presence signifies your unwavering commitment and support to the judiciary. It’s only this branch of government that continues to stand up for the rule of law in this country. With your support, this brings what you see here today,” she concluded. Court Administrator, Elizabeth Nelson, said the facilities are funded by the government of Liberia to serve as the set of the fourteen Judicial Circuit Court of the county. According to her, following notice from the contractor, that construction and finishing work has been completed at the complex; the Chief Justice mandated the office of the court administrator to get the complex ready for dedication by the President. “ Your Honor, as per your mandate, I have the honor most respectfully to inform you that my hard working and selfless task is over. I have inspected these facilities and consider the fourteen Judicial Circuit Complex ready for dedicating. Thanked you,” Court Administrator Nelson noted. RiverCess County Senator, Wellington Geevon Smith, expressed excitement and appreciation over the dedication of the new Judicial complex, adding that the rule of law now has better place to manifest in the county. The River Cess County Senator called for collaboration between the various branches of government in order to address the challenges confronting the government, especially judicial workers. “I want to appreciate the Executive Branch of Government and Chief Justice for this milestone achievement. Why the structure is here, we should take use of it. I applaud the citizens to use the court and not take the law in their own hands. Seeking Justice, you find justice. You will be fair and transparent,” Senator Smith urged. Before the dedication, President Boakai was welcomed from the border of RiverCess and Brand Bassa Counties by the Chiefs, Elders, Superintendent and citizens of the county. The President was also given a white chicken and kola nuts as signs of welcoming him in their county.
