President Joseph N. Boakai and former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf along with several government officials, members of the Christian community and other guests will gather this Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the United Pentecostal Church in Sinkor Monrovia.
The historic gathering, according to a release, is to celebrate the 25-pastoral anniversary of Bishop Dr. Stephen T.Y. Benda.
Bishop Benda was ordained as pastor of the headquarter church of the United Pentecostal Church of Liberia in Sinkor Monrovia on January 14, 2021.
The disclosure was made in an interview with this newspaper at his office in Monrovia.
Bishop Benda meanwhile, lauded the Almighty his 25 years of “dedicated pastoral ministry.”
He said through seasons of joys and challenges, he has led with unwavering faith, compassion. He therefore called on all members of the United Pentecostal Church of Liberia to remain united, and be committed in the service of God and the church.
Bishop Benda: “Commitment to the church is a fundamental aspect of Christian faith, encompassing dedication to fellowship, worship, service, and the propagation of the gospel.”
He said, the Bible offers numerous insights that underscore the importance of such commitment both historically and in contemporary contexts.
Bishop Benda however, encouraged members of the United Pentecostal Church to contribute financially, while keeping it heartfelt and faith-centered.
