Better Late THan Never Let Kamara Give Account Of What He Knows

PRESIDENT JOSEPH NYUMA Boakai, Sr on Monday, June 16, 2025 suspended Abdullah L. Kamara, Acting Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) for grave financial irregularities and misconduct during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of TAMMA Corporation, particularly in relation to transactions involving public funds.

THE SUSPENSION OF Acting LTA Chairperson stemmed from the General Auditing Commission (GAC) reported which highlighted serious allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.

PRESIDENT BOAKAI’S DECISION suggests Government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, which Mr. Kamara like other appointed officials of the administration must adhere to in the fight against corruption.

INDEED, HIS SUSPENSION without pay pending the outcome of a full and independent investigation by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) is welcomed because it signals a resolute decision in dealing with public officials who would choose corruption as a way of life to amass wealth at the detriment of the governed.

WE HOPE MR. Kamara will fully cooperate with the LACC and the Ministry of Justice by making himself available to support the ongoing investigation, as the allegations border on his integrity as a public figure that is expected to set enviable examples for upcoming public servants to follow.

THOUGH THE PUBLIC has anxiously awaited the President’s decision to have taken place long ago when these allegations surfaced months back, better late than never, especially so when the quest to bring corrupt officials to account for their misdeeds cannot be over emphasized.

HENCEFORTH, OUR GOVERNMENT owes it to uphold integrity in public service and ensure that those entrusted with public responsibilities are held to the highest standards of accountability.
