Bea Mountain Accused Of Exploiting Liberia’s Wealth

Liberia’s natural wealth is reportedly being plundered, and its people  left with nothing but environmental devastation and poverty.

Bea Mountain Mining Company, a ‘notorious’ operator under different disguises, has already ravaged Bong and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

 Now, it is extending its exploitative reach into River Cess, raising alarm over what destruction will follow.

In Bong County, they are known as MNG. In Grand Cape Mount, they call themselves Kingjor.

Now, as they set their sights on Rivercess, one question lingers, what deception will they use this time, more importantly, how much suffering will they inflict on the people?

 

For years, Bea Mountain has been accused of stripping Liberia’s land of its precious minerals while giving virtually nothing back.

 Roads remain dilapidated, communities are in ruins, and residents struggle in worsening poverty despite the billions generated by the company, what will River Cess get; critics surmise more broken promises and polluted lands.

The evidence of Bea Mountain’s exploitation is said to be undeniable, In Grand Cape Mount and Bong Counties, their operations have reportedly left a legacy of destruction with no tangible development.

Now, Rivercess is being drawn into the same trap, what will the company do to prevent the suffering of another county has been wondered as critics claim that it would  another calculated move to bleed Liberia dry.

Citizens are demanding urgent answers, If Liberia’s resources are making billions for foreign companies, while Liberians remain still poor.

Why are local communities still waiting for basic infrastructure and social programs, the government is being cautioned to stop allowing this daylight robbery and finally take decisive action before yet another county is reduced to nothing but dust and empty promises. By Amos Harris
