By Samuel Flomo, Jr.

Jeremiah Sulunteh has officially assumed leadership at Bong County University (BCU) Board of Trustees.

Sulunteh succeeds outgoing Chairman Dr. Charles K. Mulbah, during a turnover ceremony held in Gbarnga.

The leadership transition comes at a crucial time for the university, which has undergone transformation in recent years, including its elevation from Bong County Technical College to a fully recognized university.

In his final report as chairman, Dr. Mulbah highlighted the board’s achievements between March, 2024 and April, 2026.

He said, the board successfully guided the institution through a period of recovery and growth, strengthened governance systems, improved financial accountability, and ensured the university remained operational and stable.  Mulbah said, the board introduced key reforms that would promote transparency and efficiency, including credential audits, policy reviews, and strengthened oversight of personnel matters.

Said, the board also worked closely with university authorities to address concerns raised by students, faculty, and staff. Dr. Mulbah paid tribute to fellow board members for their commitment and dedication to the institution’s progress.  He also recognized Bong County lawmaker Robert F. Womba, for his contributions to the establishment and advancement of the university. As he handed over leadership, Mulbah called on the incoming board to build on the gains achieved.  He spoke of the need to complete ongoing credential audits, finalize the vetting of senior academic officials, address outstanding administrative challenges, and accelerate infrastructure development projects.

As he reflected on his tenure, Mulbah expressed optimism about the future of the institution, and urged stakeholders to remain committed to its growth and sustainability.

Sulunteh meanwhile, thanked President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for appointing him to lead the board, and pledged to provide strong leadership in support of the university’s development agenda.

He also commended the efforts of university President Dr. Alfredson Taikerweyah, and promised to work closely with faculty, students, alumni, development partners, and the Bong County Legislative Caucus to strengthen academic excellence, expand opportunities for students, and position BCU as a leading center of higher learning.
