Bartekwa’s Chief Of Office Staff Apologizes

By Emmanuel Koffa

  1. Michael Wisseh, Chief of office Staff to Grand Kru County Senator Numene T. H. Bartekwa, has apologized to the Senator.

The apology follows controversy surrounding a budget allocation that some citizens mistakenly believed was intended for the purchase of vehicles for senators’ chiefs of staff.

In a letter dated June 3, 2026, and addressed to Sen. Bartekwa, Wisseh expressed “sincere and unreserved apology” over the misunderstanding involving a line item in the Senate budget reportedly designated for constituency visits.

According to Wisseh, some citizens from Grand Kru County lacked a full understanding of the purpose of the allocation, and were therefore, not adequately informed about the facts and context surrounding the budgeted funds.

This, he said, resulted in dissatisfaction and criticism directed at Sen. Bartekwa.

Wisseh further noted that the controversy led to several inappropriate and profane comments against the Senator, which he said, “unfairly damaged the lawmaker’s public image and reputation.”

“I am particularly saddened that many of those comments came from some of my own kinsmen, which may have created the impression that I condoned, encouraged, or participated in those attacks,” Wisseh stated in the apology letter.

He categorically denied supporting or participating in any effort to malign Sen. Bartekwa’s reputation.

However, he acknowledged the need to publicly distance himself from the attacks and express regret for any misunderstanding that may have arisen.

Wisseh subsequently apologized to Sen. Bartekwa and his family for any embarrassment, distress, or reputational damage caused by the “misrepresentation of the Senator’s character and intentions.”

He also pledged to respond promptly, responsibly, and truthfully to future matters relating to public service and the office of the Senator.

The apology comes amid ongoing public discussions about government spending and accountability, particularly regarding legislative budget allocations and their intended purposes.
