Ban On Street Selling Enforced

Authorities at the Ministry of Gender on Monday, December 22, 2025, carried out its first enforcement exercise to implement the ban on children begging, and or selling on the streets.

During the exercise, officials from the Ministry identified, and apprehended several children, who were found begging and trading on the streets.

The children were later accompanied to a nearby police station, where they were cared for, and provided with food items as part of the Ministry’s welfare support.

In the aftermath of the operation, a representative of the Ministry spoke of the importance to protect children’s rights, and ensure their safety and well-being.

The Ministry meanwhile, warned that parents or guardians, who refused to comply with the directive by removing their children from the street begging and selling, will face legal consequences.

The Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard children and encourage parents to support efforts aimed at giving every child a safe and dignified future.
