The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), has officially commenced the 8th technical regulatory meeting on Aviation.
Earlier, the LCAA welcomed participants from Nigeria, Cape Verde, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Gambia.
BAGASOO is Bajul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organization.
The event, which began from November 24, will run to 28, 2025.
It was held at a resort in Tinker Village Community, outside Monrovia under the theme: Collaboration and Regulatory Harmonization,” with the aim to enhance aviation safety standards across the region.
LCAA Director General, Julius Dennis, Sr. spoke of Liberia’s commitment to hospitality and partnership.
“Welcome to this free land of Liberty, where we extend our warmest hospitality to our guests, especially our partners and collaborators,” Dennis declared in his opening remark.
The meeting serves as a platform for aviation stakeholders to deliberate on critical regulatory compliance issues, and the advancement of safety standards.
Dennis highlighted the importance to achieve full regulatory compliance with national standards, which he described as essential for ensuring safety and security within the aviation sector.
The Director for Technical Support and Training, Jacob Idaewor, on behalf of the Executive Director of the Association, on behalf of the delegates, expressed appreciation for the ongoing support, and dedication of the committee members.
He said the Committee crucial role in advising on regulatory matters and finalizing policy documents are consistent with international standards.
Idaewor said a significant milestone achieved by the Committee, include the completion of a strategic review and roadmap for harmonizing generic regulations, and safety practices across all aviation domains.
“This marks a major step towards establishing a harmonized and efficient safety oversight system across the region,” he remarked.
The current meeting will focus on implementing the harmonization roadmap, and develop a plan of action specific to technical domains, such as personnel licensing and air navigation services.
Engineer Godwin G. Barang: The meeting is to design a comprehensive framework for regulatory convergence that will ultimately create a level playing field for aviation activities across member states.
Barang is the Chairperson of the Technical Working Committee Regulatory Group.
“We are here to ensure that our regulatory frameworks remain current, relevant, and fully compliant with evolving international requirements.”
He called on participants to actively engage in discussions that will shape the future of aviation safety in the region.
