Arson Defendant Broke Down In Tears By Yassah J Wright

In last year Capitol Building burning case, the first defendant Stephen M. Broh, broke down in tears, when he was brought to court yesterday, rather feeling sorry for the act.

Broh is one of the defendants in the Capitol Building arson case, but suddenly broke down in tears during his court appearance.

 He was charged with multiple crimes, including reckless burning, arson, criminal facilitation, and criminal conspiracy and endangering others. 

However, after spending 16 days in jail, Broh was brought before the court to face the allegations.

Broh, an employee of the Capitol Building Security, is accused of conspiring with Thomas Etheridge, Amos Koffa, and John Nyanti to burn the Capitol building.

The defendants were assigned on the first shift on December 18, 2024, when the incident occurred. 

According to the police charge sheet, the suspects drove to the building in a white JAC vehicle, carrying gasoline in a container, which they allegedly used to ignite the fire.

 In court, Broh, was represented by his lawyer, Martin J. Corlon. He testified that he was a former used clothes seller before joining the Legislative Security Service (LSS) in late 2023. 

He narrated that Etheridge stopped the vehicle near Access Bank, where Nyanti entered with a bag containing gasoline content.

Broh said he expressed concerns to Etheridge about the plan, fearing that J. Fonati Koffa, a legal-minded figure, would not approve such a devilish plan without a written commitment.

He added that his objections, was trapped in the situation as they continued toward the Capitol.

According to the Police investigation, it was due to the volume of the intense heat to bend the steel pillows within the joint chambers of the legislature and above on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, of the steels.

The charge sheet put the estimated damage cost to the property over US$8,672,653.6 cents.

Meanwhile, the case continues.
