Lewis G. Brown, Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations on Thursday, February 6, 2025, failed to say exactly what diplomatic prowess he possesses in pushing Liberia’s bid to secure a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Ambassador Brown when quizzed by reporters at the Ministry of Information press conference on Thursday about his expertise in global diplomacy and as one of the lead campaigners in enabling Liberia secure the cherish seat at the UNSC, and considering his role as Permanent Representative of Liberia at the UN, Ambassador Brown rather referred to the journalists as ” lazy”, not responding to the journalists’ inquiry. The former Alternative National Congress (ANC) and Coalition of Political Parties (CPP)’s strongman failed to say what strategy he brings in helping the Boakai -led administration to secure the non-permanent seat for Liberia. Ambassador Brown told the journalist, “you are lazy journalists.” He continued,” You want me to stand here and tell you what l am capable of doing or what l have done?” The Liberia’s Permanent Representative further sent the journalists to research his name before questioning him, although he had gone to speak on Liberia current bid for the UNSC non-permanent seat. However, he focused on rallying Liberians to unite as a country, and used the occasion to lecture the journalists on Liberia’s unity. His long and emphatic lecture on national unity has left political pundits wondering whether there are Liberians who are against Liberia securing a seat at the UNSC, although Ambassador Brown did not out rightly mention it. Political pundits are also deeply concerned about Ambassador Brown’s capability and diplomatic skills in helping to push Liberia’s agenda to the rest of the world. The former “Liberians are tired suffering” campaigner was a key member of ANC or CPP of Mr. Alexander Cummings who was recently appointed by President Joseph N. Boakai as Liberia’s Ambassador to the U.N. Ambassador Brown has since gone silent when about US$ 70,000 mysteriously went missing during the ANC or CPP organized “Liberians are tired suffering” rally in Monrovia. The disappearance of the about US $70,000 remains a mystery amongst Executives of the ANC or CPP. Source: Monrovia Latest News
