Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Commemorates 12th Annual Scholarship,

The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Eta Epsilon Lambda Chapter #260,  held its 12th Annual Scholarship and Awards Ball over the weekend at Paynesville City Hall, celebrated under the theme: “Pillars of Promise, Investing in Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

” The event brought together members of the fraternity, recipients of scholarships, and distinguished guests, all united by a shared commitment to educational excellence and community service. President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Ambassador B. Elias Shoniyin, opened the ceremony highlighting the importance of education as a foundational pillar for societal growth and advancement.

“Tonight, we gather not just to celebrate achievements, but to reaffirm our commitment to investing in the leaders of tomorrow,” he stated. In a poignant moment, We need legacy continues to guide us, reminding us of our responsibilities to uplift and empower our youth,” he said.

The event underscored the pressing challenges facing Liberia, where many families struggle to afford basic education. “For countless households, the choice between paying school fees or providing daily necessities is a harsh reality,” Shoniyin pointed out.

“Education is not just a privilege; it is a vital pathway to prosperity and national renewal.” Throughout the evening, the fraternity recognized several distinguished individuals for their contributions to education and public service.

Honorees included Ambassador George W. Wallace Jr., T. Nelson Williams, Dr. Puchu Leona Bernard, Dr. Frank Glover, Sheikh Ali Krayee, and Nathaniel E. Kevin A.D.D.

In his remarks on behalf of the recipients Amb Wallace stated: “We are not just being recognized for our contributions; we are also reminded of our duty to give back and inspire the next generation.” He highlighted the significant impact that education can have on transforming lives and communities.

The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has a rich history of scholarship and mentorship, with initiatives aimed at empowering young Liberians in various fields, including medicine, engineering, agriculture, and public administration.

President Shoniyin highlighted the fraternity’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent and creating opportunities for future leaders. “When you invest in education, you invest in stability and opportunity,” Shoniyin urged. “Together, we can build a brighter future for our children and our nation.

” The 13th Annual Scholarship and Award Ball served not only as a celebration of achievements but also as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to invest in the leaders of tomorrow.
