Alleged Attempted Illegal Drugs Smuggler Arrested

Authorities at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP) have arrested a 27-year-old man identified as Blama Kromah, for attempting to smuggle a variety of illegal substances into the facility during a visit. According to the MCP Prison Superintendent, Varney Kake, the arrest occurred on November 9, 2024, at the main entrance of the MCP, adding that during a routine search of visitors, correctional officers discovered a stash of assorted narcotics in Kromah’s possession. Meanwhile, in a preliminary investigation, Kromah claimed that a woman only identified as “Princess” had given him the illegal substances to deliver to an inmate named Daddy Anderson, alias “Richman.”

The Prison Superintendent noted that Kromah has been charged with unlicensed possession of controlled substances and has been forwarded to the Monrovia City Court for prosecution, stating that the writ of arrest was issued by Magistrate L. Ben Barco of the Monrovia City Court. He disclosed that the confiscated drugs included: 40 tablets of Tramadol, seven parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine, one plastic bag of marijuana, and one plastic bag of a substance believed to be Kush. While the prison authorities did not disclose the street value of the seized drugs, they emphasized that attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Monrovia Central Prison constitutes a violation of Section 14.89 of Liberia’s Penal Code, which prohibits the possession of controlled substances without a valid license. The case has been transferred to the Monrovia City Court for further legal proceedings. Source: LINA
