A notable scene unfolded at the Administrative Building in Buchanan as current and former workers of WBHO peacefully marched to demand their labor benefits.
The workers took to the streets for ‘two years of poor labor practices, and denial of benefits within the company’s concession.’
They called the treatment, “wickedness” by the company.
Windell P. Verider, who led the group and spoke on their behalf said, they have engaged both the company’s management and the Labor Commissioner, “but our concerns have been ignored for two years.”
Despite facing the “inhumane treatment,” Mr. Verider said the group will continue to pursue peaceful dialogue with the relevant authorities.
During their visit to the county authorities, the county attorney urged them to remain calm.
Officials confirmed the matter has attracted local government attention, promising a positive resolution soon.
