Against Guinean Incursion:

Mass Demo Insight

Thousands of Liberians are reportedly preparing to peacefully demonstrate in Monrovia against the recent Guinea “illegal occupation of Liberian territory in Foya, Lofa County.”

The protest, organized by the Citizens Action Committee (CAC), will culminate at the Guinean Embassy on 23rd Street, Tubman Boulevard.

CAC chief executive officer (CEO), Reverend Philip S. Blamo, announced that extensive plans are underway for what is expected to be the largest protest march against the Guinean government for her recent actions.

Blamo stated that demonstrators will march to the Guinean Embassy to deliver a letter to the authorities, via their ambassador.

“This letter aims to articulate the protesters’ grievances, and avow their sovereign rights in response to the illegal occupation of their land,” a statement said.

Furthermore, Rev. Blamo said, formal communications will also be dispatched to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), through the UN Mission in Monrovia, and to the United States Ambassador to Liberia with similar contents against the Guinean authorities.

“These communications will highlight Guinea alleged violations of UNSC resolutions and the UN Charter, particularly concerning international peace and security.
