The Civil Society Network of Liberia in a press release says it’s attention has seriously been drawn to the prolonged delay by President Joseph Boakai in the implementation of the Investigative Report on the incident involving Col. Abraham Kromah and his two deputies at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), which led to their suspension. It is three months now since the altercation erupted between the officials of the LDEA, and the subsequent constitution of a committee to investigate circumstances that led to the incident. It can be recalled that on June 4, 2024, President Joseph Boakai suspended Col. Abraham Kromah and his two deputies, Gbawuo Kowo and Hassan Fadiga and set up an investigative committee to probe into the situation. According to the CSNL, its investigation has established that the LDEA Investigative Report has been submitted to the Office of the President for review and decisions to be rendered thereof. We are amazed as to why President Joseph Boakai has not acted on the findings of the report, when the fight against illicit drugs in Liberia requires a full robust leadership of the LDEA, the release furthered. If President Boakai is sincere in fighting illicit drugs and harmful substances, as promised in his campaign, he needs to release the LDEA Investigative Report and implement the recommendations contained in the report. CSNL laments in its release that the drug cartels in Liberia are fighting against the release of the LDEA Investigative Report, which contains the re-instatement of Col. Abraham Kromah as Director of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency. The CSNL has gathered from the LDEA Investigative Report that Col. Abraham Kromah did nothing wrong and should be re-instated with all privileges, while his two deputies, Gbawuo Kowo and Hassan Fadiga should not be re-instated for the acts of insubordination they rendered their boss. It is mindboggling to misinform the Public that the American Government, through its Embassy near Monrovia is against the re-instatement of Col. Abraham Kromah. The CSNL sees this information to be misleading and false , as the American Government through its Embassy has a policy of encouraging professionalism in the governance of friendly Nation as in the case of Liberia. Col. Abraham Kromah is schooled and has served in different positions in the very United States of America, just to name a few: John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice with emphasis in Police Administration. He also served as a Senior Investigator in the Superior Court of New Jersey and also served as Probation Officer in the same court of New Jersey. The Civil Society Network of Liberia has realized that the momentum on the war against drugs in Liberia has dropped due to the prolonged investigation and delay in decision. Hence, the CSNL is pleading with President Joseph Boakai to take charge of the government by dealing decisively and proactively with national issues of emergency, like drug abuse. Considering the critical role of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency in combating drugs and clamping down on drug traffickers, we call on President Joseph Boakai to implement the LDEA Investigation report so as to give the public hope again, the release concluded.
