7-Yr-Old Girl ‘Brutalized’

Residents in the New Georgia Gulf Community are displeased after police confirmed the arrest of a woman accused of chopping off the finger of a seven-year-old girl.  Little Georgina was reportedly brutalized in an act, which residents described as “barbaric and inhumane.”

According to eyewitness accounts, the attack occurred after little Georgina accidentally dropped the woman baby when she was attending to the toddler.

The infant was reportedly unharmed, but the woman instead of showing compassion, allegedly retaliated by chopping off Georgina’s finger.

The child is now receiving urgent medical treatment at a health facility in New Georgia.

Medical workers say the injury has left her permanently disfigured, sparking renewed concerns about ‘child protection’ and accountability in the country.

Police disclosed that the suspect, who initially fled the scene, was later arrested and taken into custody at the Zone 4 Depot, where she is awaiting investigation.

Authorities have promised swift prosecution, denouncing the repeat of such cruelty.

Community members expressed anger and disbelief. They called the incident a painful reminder of how children in the country continue to face abuse, neglect and violence at the hands of those entrusted with their care.

“This is not just a crime against one child; it is a crime against humanity,” a child protection activist said.

“If perpetrators of such wicked acts are not punished, it will embolden others to abuse innocent children with impunity,” a resident remarked.

Reports suggest that Little Georgina had been living with the woman, who presented herself as a guardian or relative after bringing the child from Compound 2, Grand Bassa County.

Following the attack, Georgina’s mother, identified only as Yamah, has been urgently called to intervene in her daughter’s welfare.

Civil society groups and child rights advocates are now demanding that the government enforce tougher laws against child abuse and raise awareness about responsible caregiving.

“This case should sound an alarm for parents and guardians everywhere,” said a youth activist.

“We must be careful who we entrust our children with, because misplaced trust can lead to irreversible damage.”

The gruesome attack has left the New Georgia Gulf community shaken, with many residents calling for the full weight of the law against the perpetrator.

For now, little Georgina’s cries echo a larger reality country’s urgent need to strengthen child protection systems, and ensure that children grow up safe, secure and shielded from violence.
