Government has placed 304 personnel from the faith-based ELWA Hospital, outside Monrovia.

Government said, the move is to strengthen the healthcare sector by placing 304 staff members of ELWA Hospital on its payroll system.

Civil Service Agency (CSA) Director, Josiah F. Joekai, made the disclosure during the Ministry of Information regular press briefing in Monrovia.

Joekai described the move as part of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s commitment to improve the welfare of health workers, and strengthen service delivery in the healthcare system.

He said, the transition demonstrates government’s determination to support institutions providing “essential services” to the Liberian people.

Joekai: “All 304 employees of ELWA Hospital have now been successfully transitioned to the government central payroll system. This follows months of assessment and verification.”

He said, the employees, though assigned at the privately-owned hospital, they officially began receiving their salaries from government in April, 2026.

Dr. Joekai praised the collaborative efforts of the CSA, the Ministry of Finance, and hospital administrators for ensuring a “smooth transition process.”

He said, government remains committed to improve working conditions for healthcare professionals.

Joekai further stated that the initiative reflects Boakai administration’s broader vision to create a more inclusive and responsive public service system that recognizes the contributions of healthcare workers and other service providers nationwide.

He said, government intends to continue engaging both public and private institutions to improve national development and service delivery.

The administration, Joekai said, wants to ensure that critical sectors, especially healthcare, receive the support needed to effectively serve the Liberian people.

Many Liberians have welcomed the government’s decision.

They described it as a “positive intervention that will motivate health workers and improve operations at ELWA Hospital.”

Citizens say, the move is expected to provide greater job security and financial stability for hospital employees.
