The Liberia Land Authority identified 88 “double land sellers” and the collaborators, especially those who often probated their deeds, will soon go to jail for 25 year.

Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillion made the suggestion on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Dillion proposed a 25-year jail sentence with a non-billable attached for those suspected or identified for engaging in “double land sale.”

Of the 88 illegal land sellers, the LAA identified, many of them reside in Montserrado an Margibi counties,

Sen. Dillion also proposed impeachment for Probate Court judge, who will engage into “double probates of a single deed, or property for two or three families.” He reminded his colleagues (senators) that land crisis has resulted into deaths and violence activities.

He spoke during Senate Session on open debate on land crisis, and demolition. Sen. Dillion suggested that senators invite the heads of Law Reform Commission, Land Reform Commission, and Liberia Land Authority, before the concerned committees to address the land crisis.

He warned that if they are not courageous with bold courage to take drastic land reform, the country will witness “another civil crisis.”

He strongly blamed the growing land crisis on the Probate Court and the double land sellers, who the LAA has already identified.

‘’We have to review the law so that any judge from the Probate Court, when the court probate two or three deeds for the same place and property that will cause confusion, death and other casualty, the judge must be impeached. The displacement of our people and demolishing of properties must, as it is concerning, the real problem lies in our hands and the probate court. Therefore, we must reform the land,” Dillon proposed.

He also proposed that the double sale of land be a non-billable offence with a jail sentence of not less than 25 years.

Dillion meanwhile, recommended the digitalization of LAA and probated deeds to save the country from deepening crisis.
