The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prince Tamba Nyuma Foundation, Prince Tamba Nyuma, has called on government to prioritize Bentol as a potential tourism site.
Bentol is the political capital of Montserrado County.
Mr. Nyuma said such investment in the area could significantly contribute to address country’s ongoing challenges in the tourism sector.
He declared his intention to contest in District #1 Montserrado County, has highlighted the historical significance of Bentol, the birthplace of former President William R. Tolbert.
Nyuma called for initiatives that could transform the city into a vibrant tourist destination.
“It is time the government invests in making Bentol a tourism site to also improve country’s economic situation, Nyuma said.
He spoke of the importance of harnessing Liberia’s rich resources, specifically in the tourism sector to provide quality education for its citizens.
“I therefore, urged you to be wise as we approach the 2029 general and presidential elections, reminding government of the potential consequences of electing leaders that are visionless.
“Be careful about the people you elect; community should consider candidates, who genuinely seek residents’ interests.
On the contrary, Nyuma expressed frustration about the lack of electricity in Bentol, adding: “It is evil to keep the entire city in total darkness.”
Nyuma called for immediate action to restore power to the city, which has suffered from perpetual darkness for so long.
As the community rallies together to advocate for change, the call for investment in Bentol remains a central theme in their vision for the future.
Nyuma is therefore, hopeful that with strategic initiatives and community engagements, Bentol can emerge from the shadows of neglect into a beacon of opportunity and progress.
An elder, Ernest Gargar, called for unity among residents of Bentol, saying: “Our focus should be on developing the city when we collaborate in peace, rather than harvesting conflicts among residents.
