The House of Representatives (HoR), through its Committee on Investment and Concession, has formally summoned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hummingbird Resources Liberia Incorporated, Brett Richards, to appear before the Committee on Thursday,
September 11, 2025, at 12: noon in the First Floor Conference Room, House Wing.
This summons follows a directive issued by the Leadership of the House on August 18, 2025, requiring Hummingbird Resources Liberia Inc. to remit the full outstanding amount of US$3,485,000 into government’s Consolidated Account, in accordance with instructions from the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.
The company was further instructed to present an official flag receipt to the HoR, through the Office of the Chief Clerk, as proof of payment.
In addition, the payment was to be completed within 20 working days commencing August 11, 2025, as stipulated during the Committee’s hearing.
The HoR underscores the urgency of this matter and expects Hummingbird Resources Liberia Inc. to fully comply with its obligations to the state.
According to a release, September 11 appearance will provide an opportunity for the company to present a comprehensive update on the status of its compliance.
The House reaffirms its unwavering commitment to ensuring that all concessionaires operating within the country uphold their contractual, financial, and social responsibilities to the government and people of Liberia.
